AdBlue as part of your servicing
AdBlue is one of the small jobs that gets left until a warning appears. The simplest approach is to have it topped up when the car is in for its service, and we do that as a matter of course. An Oil Service starts from £125 + VAT and a Full Service from £225 + VAT, both worked to the manufacturer schedule so any warranty stays intact, and an MOT is £45 and free with a Full Service when you quote the code freeMOT. If you only need AdBlue, come in and we will sort it while you wait.
What AdBlue actually is
AdBlue is a urea solution carried in its own tank, separate from the fuel. It is injected into the exhaust to convert nitrogen oxides into nitrogen and water before they leave the tailpipe. It is a consumable, so it runs down with use, and consumption depends on how and where the vehicle is driven. Most modern diesels from the major makes use it, including cars and vans from the German and French manufacturers we work on every day.
The warning light
Your car will warn you well before the tank empties, usually with a message giving a remaining range. Do not leave it. If the AdBlue tank runs dry, most vehicles will refuse to restart once switched off, which turns a five-minute job into a recovery. If the light has already come on, message us and come in.
Getting it done
We are on the North Circular at The Coppetts Centre in N12, open 07:30 to 19:00 Monday to Friday and 08:30 to 19:00 at weekends. Message us on WhatsApp or call 020 8445 1050, or email info@whiterosemotors.com. If your car needs more than AdBlue, our diagnostic equipment is main-dealer level, so a persistent emissions warning can be traced properly rather than reset and forgotten.
