What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember something between pages or between visits, such as a setting you have chosen. Some are set by the site you are on and some by other companies whose content appears on the page.
Nothing is set until you agree
When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you press accept, Google Analytics does not load and no analytics cookies are created. If you reject, nothing is measured and nothing is stored beyond the record of your answer.
Strictly necessary
One cookie stores your own answer to the banner, so that you are not asked again on every page. It is set whichever way you answer, because its whole job is to remember the choice. It holds nothing about you personally and it does not need your consent.
To be confirmed by White Rose Motors before publication: the name and lifetime of the cookie that stores the consent choice, once the banner is installed.
Analytics, only with your consent
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-EP8VVF6908. In plain terms it tells us:
- which pages people look at, and in what order
- roughly where in the country a visitor is, at town or region level
- whether they are using a phone, a tablet or a computer
- whether they are a new visitor or a returning one
We use it to see which pages are useful and where the site is confusing. It is not used to identify anyone personally. IP addresses are anonymised, so we do not see or store your full address, and nothing tells us who you are.
The cookies it sets are:
- _ga, which stores a randomly generated number identifying the browser, and typically lasts two years
- _ga_ followed by the container suffix for this site, which keeps track of the current visit, and also typically lasts two years
Content from other companies
Our contact page includes an embedded Google Map. Google may set cookies when the map loads or when you interact with it. We also link out to WhatsApp on wa.me, to Google Maps for directions, and to Instagram. Following one of those links takes you onto that company's own site, where its own cookie and privacy terms apply, not ours.
The enquiry form
The form on our contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated software. Turnstile may set a short-lived token in your browser for that check. It is strictly necessary: without it the form would be overwhelmed by spam, which is what happened to our previous website. It does not track you, does not profile you, and is not used for advertising.
Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie settings button on this page. Reopen it, change your answer, and the new choice takes effect straight away. Withdrawing consent stops any further analytics collection, and it is exactly as easy as giving it in the first place.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete the ones already stored, or clear them each time you close the window. The controls sit in the settings or preferences menu, usually under privacy. Blocking cookies across the board may affect how other websites behave, so it is worth checking what a setting covers before you turn it on.
Rejecting analytics changes nothing
The site works exactly the same either way. Every page, every price and every phone number is there whether you accept or reject. Analytics only helps us improve the site, and if you would rather not be counted, that is fine.
